GILL SANS TYPE BOOKLET
During my Typography II class at Quinnipiac University, we were tasked with creating a booklet that highlights a specific type specimen. I was assigned Gill Sans which is a humanist sans serif typeface. The goal was to use creative layouts and typography to advertise the range and quality of the font.
After researching, I worked to brainstorm theme ideas that combined the history of the typeface and inventive design. In the end, I chose to create interesting type layouts and add accent colors from Toy Story. Gill sans is used to create the Toy Story logo, and I love the connection since I am a huge fan of Disney movies. Rather than choosing a red, yellow, blue color scheme I decided to base my color scheme off Buzz Lightyear. The green, purple, and tan offer a beautiful juxtaposition to the dark background.
Overall, I aimed to utilize the unique elements of the typeface to demonstrate its potential to users. Through my designs I wanted to educate the viewer on the history of the typeface without subtle design elements.
